Kat has been fascinated by epigenetics ever since embarking on her PhD with Azim Surani . After seven years in research she hung up her labcoat and went to work for Cancer Research UK as a science communicator. As part of her job, Kat produces the charity’s monthly podcast, as well as writing and talking about cancer and research. In her spare time, she is a freelance writer, and is often found behind the mic as a presenter on the Naked Scientists radio show. During the hours of darkness she plays the harp in various bands based in Cambridge and London. Kat’s hobbies are knitting, reading, and staying awake for extended periods of time.
