Teacher training day - January 2008 - Royal Albert Hall
Duncan Chapman (Sound artist) introduced ways to get creative with sound. Audacity is a free audio editor and recorder and Coagula creates sounds from visual image data, as Duncan demonstrated with the Hale-Bopp comet (pictured). Teachers were treated to an improvisatory loop-based recording session, which involved passing around a microphone and noising into it. Listen to the result here.
Three UK schools will work with Duncan to create a soundtrack for the Scopic exhibition. Elements of this will be performed at the Scopic launch on May 9th 2008 and the mp3 will be available to download from www.myscopic.co.uk from May 2008.
